Social Networking

I was on the "Facebook" page , when all of sudden my daughter walked into the room and questioned with fear in her voice, "WHY ARE YOU ON FACEBOOK?"
Does this give me more incentive to sign up or am I just a wimp? I will have to think about it.

Week 5 of 23 Things - Downloadable Material

Our library computers will not allow access to downloading materials. Jan, our Director, set up a laptop in the office so that the staff could practice. There is nothing like doing it yourself inorder to try to retain the information. Success!
I copied the handy guide to "Downloadable Audio and Video", but I was hoping it was a step by step guide regarding the procedure for downloading material. As you can see, I am a true novice at this.

My "First Ever" Blog

A few years ago, I started to learn Italian. I felt overwhelmed with all the unfamiliar words and tenses. When I heard the words spoken, I didn't comprehend them and struggled at completing a thought even one as simple as, "I do not understand Italian". I could compare these feelings with those I have had learning the first 23 Lessons. In order to keep up with the changing technology, I have to put extra effort into my lessons because this is something that does not come naturally. The miriad of terms such as vlog, tumblelog, phlog and blogosphere are definitely not part of my vocabulary and I start to put up a mental block to this new information. Questions race through my head, like.... "Will I ever catch up to the techno-savy kids on my Teen Advisory Board?" All of sudden however, I see an article in the news paper about "Twitter" and I realize that I have seen that term before and I know it is not a new kind of candy bar. Slow but sure I am catching on to this new terminolgy and technology. This is all about "life long learning" and being able to get out of your comfort zone .... even if it is a little bit scary.
